In order to start a game, Utomik has to access some game-specific files. If a previous instance of the game did not shut down properly, it's possible that such a file is still in use by said previous instance.
Forcing a hanging game to close on Windows
The error message you receive when starting a game will most likely include a process name and process ID. This is the executable file that we believe is blocking the required file.
To close the previous instance of the game, please try the following:
- Open the Windows Task Manager (for example, by pressing the following keys at the same time: Ctrl Shift Esc).
- Select the Details tab (Windows 7: select the Processes tab).
- From the list under the Details tab, locate the games executable file. (the "Name" column should match the "App process" in the error message you received, and the "PID" column should match the "process ID" the error message lists).
(Windows 7: the "Image Name" column should match the "App process" the error message lists; there is no process ID column.) - Right-click on the executable file.
- Select "End task" (Windows 7: "End process").
- If you receive a message asking you to confirm this action you may safely select "End process" button in the new window.
This should close the game, allowing you to start it again.
If this doesn't work, or Windows is unable to close the game, restarting your computer should resolve the issue.
